Public-Private Dialogue with Committee on Sectoral Economics and Economic Policy
Members of the PMAG Packaging Cluster participated in a dialogue between the public and private sectors, organized by the Sectoral Economics and Economic Policy Committee and the USAID Economic Security Program on "Challenges and Prospects for Light Industry Development in Georgia:" Manufacture of Furniture and Packaging Materials ".

Legislators, representatives of the Georgian executive branch, the private sector and international organizations, as well as experts in the field, discussed the challenges in the light manufacturing industry sector and the ways to solve them during the meeting held at the Hotel Stamba.

The meeting presented the results of the research on the difficulties and potential in the production of furniture and packaging materials, which showed that the light manufacturing industry in Georgia faces a number of challenges, including lack of qualifications, access to raw materials and investment, as well as market access difficulties, obsolete equipment and Low cost production.

Representatives of the public sector, experts and MPs spoke about the difficulties in the field.

Representatives of the Ministries of Economy and Sustainable Development, as well as the Ministries of Education and Science, "Produce in Georgia" and representatives of Innovation and Technology Agencies participated in the meeting together with the members of Parliament.

At the end of the meeting, Davit Songhulashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Sectoral Economics and Economic Policy, said that light industry is one of the most important and interesting, but full of challenges sector.
