The World Packaging Organization (WPO), the EU-UN Joint Program "EU Innovative Project for Private Sector Competitiveness in Georgia" and PMAG Packaging Cluster are honored to invite packaging companies to participate in the Thematic Capacity Development Initiative!



Packaging technology and circular economy (The World Packaging organization WPO training)

The training is provided by the World Packaging Organization (WPO), the only Georgian full member of which is PMAG packaging cluster since 2020. Currently the WPO unites 65 members from 45 countries.

The initiative provides a 4-day training program that will allow trainees to gain basic knowledge of packaging technology in general, circular economy, environmental sustainability and current news and issues in the sector, as well as quickly transform this knowledge into their daily activities.

Information about trainers:

The course will be led by Professor Pierre Pienaar and Professor Kishan Singh.

Professor Pierre Pienaar  is currently the President of the World Packaging Organization. His interest in packaging and career started in 1984 after having studied pharmacy and joining a large pharmaceutical company.

Pierre went on to do a Master of Science Degree (Packaging Engineering/ Technology) from Brunel University. He also has a Master of Manufacturing and Production Degree from University of Hertfordshire. He is a registered Certified Packaging Professional (CPP). Pierre lectures in the science of packaging to numerous universities across the globe. Pierre has over 35 years’ experience in the field of pharmaceutical, confectionery, food and beverage packaging and runs his own packaging consulting business.

He is responsible for the education program of the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) and his greatest asset is that he has worked for over 3 decades with all forms of packaging materials including glass, board, metals and plastic as well as consulting to companies on best practice in the supply chain.

As the President of the World Packaging Organization he is passionate about the future of global packaging particularly regarding sustainability and striving for a Circular Economy.

Professor Kishan Singh  is a specialist in chemistry and biochemistry, by profession. However, he has a master’s degree in business management and holds the black belt of Lean Six Sigma.

With 32 years of training and consulting experience in the fields of Business Systems Design and Development, Quality Management Systems, Supply Chain Management, Business Risk Management and Packaging Technology, Kishan is now the Managing Director of Global Integrated Business Solutions (Pty), certified Management Training and Consulting firm that specializes in Business Systems Optimization through the effective application of ISO systems.

Very recently, Kishan achieved the Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) qualification. He also sits on the Executive Board of the World Packaging Organization (WPO), contributing to strategic global decisions on packaging related trends. Kishan remains the key Packaging Training support structure for WPO into the future.

As an Ambassador to WPO, Kishan’s focal areas are:

  • To formalize Key Business Systems within WPO, to enable consistency in output delivery
  • To align WPO business systems with ISO9001:2015 System Requirements
  • To develop medium to long term strategic plans to ensure WPO relevance within the global packaging community.
  • To foster alliances with strategic partners with WPO
  • To provide Technical Advisory Support to WPO
  • To conduct global Packaging Training and Education in the following fields:

  2. Supply Chain Management
  3. Operations Management
  4. Quality Systems Management
  5. Lean Six Sigma Green to Black Belt
  6. Environmental Management and Circular Economies

 

  • To support the Global WPO Academic Program Endorsement processes by actively assessing such programs against predetermined criteria.
