Members of the Package Manufacturers Association of Georgia visited Budapest, Hungary on a study tour.
The aim of the visit was to share Hungarian knowledge and experience in cluster management organization and cluster development. The Georgian side listened to all the necessary information on how to form a cluster on the basis of the association, its organizational arrangement, the establishment of an operating system, the adoption of a unified vision and quality improvement. The Georgian delegation was hosted by the Hungarian organization DBH group (Development Bridge Head), which had established the first packaging cluster “OMNIPACK” in the country. OMNIPACK has been operating since 2003 and has implemented many successful projects on a cluster basis.
The members of the group had meetings with the representatives of various ministries, manufacturers of packaging materials, members of the cluster and professional association, the groups, which are implementing innovative approaches in the packaging sector, local entrepreneurs in the field of waste management and laboratory analysis. The meeting was also held at Obuda University, where there are several master's and bachelor's degree programs in packaging technology. As this field is relevant for Georgia as well, the parties also discussed the prospects for future cooperation.
At the end of the training tour, Georgian Ambassador to Hungary, MR. Zaal Gogsadze met with the Georgian delegation and talked about the possibilities of technical support in the field of export.
The study tour was organized with the support of the United Nations Development Program and the European Union, within the framework of the “EU Innovative Action for Private Sector Competitiveness in Georgia”. Along with the members of the association, civil servants from the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture and Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, as well as representatives of the "Enterprise in Georgia" and the State Representative Administration in the Kakheti region took part in the tour.
