The PMAG cluster has joined the World Packaging Organization (WPO).
On November 23-27 Board Meeting of the World Packaging Organisation was held. Among other issues, PMAG membership was discussed during the meeting. During previous meetings, the representatives of PMAG introduced the Georgian cluster to the President and Secretary-General of the WPO and discussed future cooperation plans. As a result of the negotiations, back in June, the PMAG was granted the candidacy status. On 26th of November, during the Board meeting PMAG has introduced Georgia and Georgian Cluster to the members of the Board. Folowingly, WPO’s 54 members voted in favour of PMAG. As a result, PMAG became first Georgian organisation joining WPO as a full member. During the next meeting PMAG will also have voting rights.
At this stage, WPO unites 65 members from 46 countries.
WPO was founded on September 6, 1968 in Japan. Since then, the organization has been working on encouraging the development of packaging technology and science, contributing to the development of international trade and the promotion of education and training in the packaging sector.
