In partnership with USAID Economic Security Program, Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Ideathon "Make it for the customer, pack it for the earth" is being launched.
The Ideathon enables entrepreneurs, business owners/managers, initiative groups and people who are interested in recycling and waste management to come up with concepts on how to create biodegradable packaging to replace plastic and other disposable waste.
The creation and/or development of the service/product provided by the participants should contribute to the reduction of the waste stream that is flowing into Georgian landfills. Presented service/product should benefit the hotel, restaurant, and café (HORECA) sector by providing affordable alternatives to plastic packaging.
Those interested in Ideathon must complete the application by March 15: http://bit.ly/Ideathon-Registration
The working language will be Georgian.
The authors of the selected ideas will go through a two-week acceleration program, where, with the help of mentors, they will work on refining and developing the business model for their idea. At the end of the acceleration, they will be presented to the jury.
The prize fund is GEL 60,000, which the winning team or teams will receive from USAID's Economic Security Program, Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency, and the UNDP. Please note that the winning team or teams will receive not the amount but the service or product required within that amount that will be required to start or develop the business.
The Ideathon is supported by the USAID Economic Security Program in partnership with Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency, the UNDP, Packaging Manufacturers Association of Georgia (PMAG) and the Georgian Waste Management Association. The Ideathon will be organized by ForSet. Media partner of the event is Next.on.ge.
