PMAG cluster joins the celebration of World Environmental Day 2020

"Together we will help to preserve biodiversity" - under this name of the activity, the cluster of packaging materials manufacturers (PMAG) in Georgia joined the celebration of the World Environment Day.

With the initiative of the cluster and  support of the United Nations Development Program, a total of 200 eco-friendly gift sets were distributed to associated companies across the industry, international and non-governmental organizations, educational institutions and other businesses through whole Georgia.Taking into consideration, as the theme of this year's World Environment Day is biodiversity, the initiators decided to provide the gift set with endemic plants and eco-friendly products produced in Georgia.

The aim of the action is to emphasize the involvement of private companies in maintaining biodiversity in Georgia. To reduce the damage to the environment, PMAG members pay particular attention to the efficient use of energy, water and raw materials. With this in mind, the Packaging Materials Manufacturers cluster is trying to choose an eco-friendly raw material for the production, or to process the recycling to produce the raw material itself. In addition, to implement water and energy efficiency policies in each unit of cluster.

The cluster of packaging materials manufacturers was established in early 2020 on the basis of a joint initiative of the European Union and the United Nations "Innovative EU Project for Privacy Competitiveness in Georgia". As a result of cooperation with EU and four UN agencies (UNDP), UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and International Organization for Migration (IOM)), the project serves to increase the competitiveness of Georgia's private sector.

At the moment, PMAG unites 8 companies. Each member of the cluster, taking into account the social responsibility, is actively involved in environmental activities.

In the future, it is planned that PMAG will include not only the networks of businesses working in the field of packaging, but also the networks of consumers, suppliers, educational institutions and other companies associated with this field.
